After finishing up a loaded stretch of spring visits, East St. Louis (Mo.) four-star cornerback Charles Bass is beginning to narrow his recruitment.

On Sunday, the 6-foot-0.5, 185-pounder trimmed his list of top schools down to 10. Arkansas, Cincinnati, Illinois, Kansas, LSU, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Oregon and Texas A&M all made the cut.

Bass’ March included trips to Arkansas, Missouri and LSU. This month he’s made visits to Cincinnati, Illinois, Nebraska and Kansas. He updated his recruitment with On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons earlier this year.

“I will go where I feel most at home,” Bass said. “I also want to go where I will be developed on and off the field. My trust in the coaches is important. The connection with the people will be a factor too.”

Mizzou is a program that has been consistently mentioned in Bass’ recruitment. He’s made his way to Columbia multiple times this year and is a coveted target for Eli Drinkwitz and the in-state Tigers.

“What stands out most to me about Missouri is how it feels like home,” Bass said. “It is close to home and it really feels that way. I have a great connection with the coaches. Most of the coaches know me, they talk to me a lot and even coach (Eliah Drinkwitz) communicates with me.”

“He is a cool guy,” Bass added of Drinkwitz. “I like talking to him. We talk about a lot of things, we joke around and he makes sure I know that he wants me. He called me when they were practicing for the Ohio State game to make sure I knew I was on his mind. His interest in me means a lot.”

Bass is the No. 351 overall prospect and No. 31 corner in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 9 player in Illinois.
